Straid Primary School is a family friendly, rural school. We are situated at the heart of the community in beautiful surroundings, where pupils play alongside fields in the playground at break times. The children in our school benefit from a higher than average pupil:teacher ratio thanks to our smaller class sizes. Every child matters to us.
Our children achieve very good academic standards and learning support is available for those who require it. We provide a wide range of after school activities and extra curricular experiences.
Facilities include: a recently refurbished school library, ICT Suite, a garden area, a forest area and a Foundation stage playroom. Our Key Stage 2 pupils enjoy coaching sessions at the Ballyclare High School AstroTurf pitches each week and swimming lessons at Sixmile Leisure Centre.
We are classified as a ‘Controlled’ Primary School and co-educational. Our pupils range from 4 years old to 11 years old. The original building was opened over one hundred and eighty years ago and has been extended and renovated in the intervening period. The building fabric is maintained to a high standard.
The school serves Straid Village, Ballyclare and the surrounding area.
Contact the school office if you would like to visit our school for yourself. We look forward to meeting you!
